Madrasah al Ibtidaiyyah is concerned about the lack of organised and effective Islamic education available in the Handsworth area.
The majority of the UK muslims are lacking from good islamic education. There is a pressing need for children to be to taught by teachers who can communicate with the children effectively. This means able to communicate in English and to understand the environment that the children are growing up in.
The madrasah has been running since 2004. It started with about 45 students and 2 teachers. Today it has about 120 students and 7 teachers. The students ages are between 5-16 with girls up to the age of 12. Although the vast majority of students are from Handsworth, we have been attracting students from a 5 mile radius.
It is our firm conviction that this Madrasah is becoming one of its like in Birmingham which aims to teach children with a systematic syllabus within a three year framework in the English language and cover a wide range of Islamic subjects namely; fundamentals of Islam, beliefs, prayer, self- purity, morals, manners, Tajweed, Ahadith, Qur’anic stories etc all under our fully qualified, respected and revered Ulama.
We are striving for our younger generation, who are growing up in this environment, to begin to understand and appreciate the deep message of the Qur’an. This will allow their Imaan to grow, develop, flourish and generate within them the awareness of their Deen, the Shar’iah and its guidance and be able to understand the reason for its implementation throughout their lives thus engendering in them a strong desire to do good deeds for the Hereafter.
